Audition Notice: No Exit and The Criminals
MVLCT is thrilled to announce auditions for No Exit and The Criminals
Join MVLCT for the second ever Elliott Studio Series Production.
Auditions will be held March 16th at 1:00pm and March 17th at 7:00pm at the First Street Community Center in Mount Vernon. Actors will only need to attend one night of auditions.
Please arrive early to fill out an audition form and plan to stay for the entire audition session. Auditioners will read sides- nothing to prepare!
Auditioners must be 20+.
No Exit - Jean-Paul Sartre
“Hell is other people.” A bellman ushers three recently deceased people into a room. All the characters require another person for self-definition, yet each is most attracted to the person most likely to cause discomfort. Their inability to escape from each other guarantees their eternal torture. Four roles, 2M/2F. Ages 20 and up. Script available upon request.
The Criminals - Jose Triana
Lalo and his sisters, Cuca and Beba, stuck in a basement create a play-within-a-play acting out the murder of their parents. Playing all the roles in the show they take us from the killing through the press coverage, the investigation, the arrest, and trial. The play adds and subtracts as it reaches its inevitable conclusion. Written in the 1950’s, the play looks at power structures inherent in destructive political systems using the children as a metaphor for the first Cuban Revolution. Three roles, 2F/1M. Ages 20 and up. Script available upon request.
Rehearsals begin April 7th
Performance dates are May 16-19, 2024 at the Uptown Theater in the First Street Community Center in Mount Vernon, IA.
