The Elliott Studio Series

A New Initiative From MVLCT…

The Elliott Studio Series is an ambitious new community outreach effort by MVLCT.  Its mission is to provide an opportunity for small studio style comedies and dramas to be performed at little to no cost except the necessary royalty payments.  Producers are guaranteed one weekend consisting of up to four shows in the Uptown Theater at the First Street Building in Mount Vernon, IA. This initiative  is not intended for large cast or spectacle musicals or plays, but will provide a home for small passion projects needing a place to shine.

Interested parties will fill out an application and if selected, interview with the board.

The first two productions of the Elliott Studio Series were:

The Revolutionists by Lauren Gunderson- Four beautiful, badass women lose their heads in this irreverent, girl-powered comedy set during the French Revolution’s Reign of Terror. (Summary Courtesy of Dramatists Play Service).  Featuring Jessica Link, Braden JP Rood, Jora Miller and Kami Zbanek Hill.

No Exit by Jean-Paul Sartre-  Two women and one man are locked up together for eternity in one hideous room in Hell. The windows are bricked up, there are no mirrors, the electric lights can never be turned off, and there is no exit. (Summary courtesy of Concord Theatricals) Directed by Grant Freeman. May 16-19, 2024.
