AUDITIONS for The House of Blue Leaves–THIS WEEKEND!

Mount Vernon-Lisbon Community Theatre announces auditions for their fall production, John Guare’s The House of Blue Leaves, a dark comedy to be performed October 9, 10, 14, 15 and 16.
 
Auditions will be held on Sunday, August 15 and Monday, August 16 at 7 PM in the Uptown Theatre at the First Street Community Center, 221 1st St. NE, Mount Vernon.
 
 
The House of Blue Leaves is set in Sunnyside, Queens on October 4, 1965, the day Pope Paul VI visited New York City. Artie, a songwriting zookeeper, is joined at various times in his apartment by his mentally ill wife Bananas, his girlfriend Bunny, and his AWOL son Ronnie. Supporting roles include Artie’s best friend Billy Einhorn, visiting actress Corrinna Stroller, several nuns who want to see the pope, a policeman and The White Man.
 
 
Kerry Covington is directing. Parts are available for actors 18 and over; no preparation is necessary to audition. Questions may be emailed to mvlcommunitytheatre@gmail.com.
